What happens after I apply for an opportunity?
Understand what to expect after submitting your application.
When you find a role you’re interested in, just click the Apply button. From there, one of two things will happen depending on how the charity has set up their opportunity:
1. Application sent directly to the Charity
-
Your application is sent straight to the charity by email.
-
You’ll see the opportunity listed in your dashboard so you can track it.
-
Most charities aim to respond within 5 working days. Please keep in mind that many are small teams — sometimes run by volunteers themselves — so it can take longer.
-
If you don’t hear back straight away, don’t worry. We’ll also send reminders to the charity on your behalf.
2. Application via the charity’s own website
-
Sometimes charities ask volunteers to complete a form on their own website.
-
If that’s the case, the Apply button will take you to their webpage.
-
Once you’ve submitted their form, the charity will contact you directly about next steps. This application will still appear in your GoVo dashboard
After you apply
-
You’ll get an email confirmation that your application has been submitted.
-
The charity will then review your details and decide if you’re a good match.
-
They might contact you for more information or a quick chat.
💡 Tip: Keep an eye on your email inbox (and junk/spam folder) for replies.
Waiting to hear back
Every charity works at a different pace. Some respond quickly, others may take a little longer. Please don’t be discouraged if you don’t hear back immediately
