How Can I Verify a Volunteer's ID?

🪪 How a Charity Can Set Up Their Yoti Hub Account and View Volunteer ID Information

If your charity needs to verify a volunteer’s ID through Yoti, you’ll first need to set up a Yoti Hub account. This secure process allows your charity to request consent from volunteers and view verified ID details that they agree to share.

Here’s how to get started step by step 👇

1. Go to Yoti Hub

Visit the Yoti Hub and select Create an Organisation Account. Ensure to select 'not for profit' as your organisation type as this means you can use the service free of charge.

2. Enter your charity information

Add your charity’s name, contact details, and any other required information to register your account. The organisation number is your charity number and you will need to input information into the finance details section but don't worry, it is free of charge for charities!

3. Create a service

Once your account is set up, create a Service.
This is where you tell Yoti what volunteer information your charity would like to access (for example, name, date of birth, or ID source).

4. Add members from your charity

Invite colleagues to join your Yoti Hub and assign permissions depending on what they need to do — such as viewing data, managing services, or sending consent requests.

5. Wait for Yoti to verify your account

Yoti will check your charity details and activate your organisation account — usually within 24 hours.

6. Generate a no-code QR code for volunteer consent

When your account is active, you can create a QR code directly from your Yoti Hub.

This lets volunteers give consent for your charity to view specific verified ID information.
The process is simple and requires no coding — Yoti generates the QR code for you automatically.

💡 Note: Each charity must request consent directly from the volunteer, even if they’ve already verified their ID for GoVo. This ensures the volunteer stays fully in control of what information they share and with whom.

7. Share the QR code with your volunteer

Email the QR code to your volunteer so they can scan or click to approve your data request.

8. View the volunteer data

Once the volunteer has given consent, go to Receipts in your Yoti Hub.
Click on the volunteer’s name to view the verified data you requested.
