Getting started with Team Days
This guide walks you through how to design and upload an effective Team Day opportunity that attracts corporate volunteers and runs smoothly.
Before You Start
Think about:
- What your organisation needs most
- What activities are suitable for groups
- How volunteers can make a meaningful impact in a short time
A successful Team Day balances your needs with a positive volunteer experience.
What You Need to Include
When uploading your Team Day to GoVo, make sure you have:
- Clear activity description
What the group will do and how the day will run - Benefits to volunteers
What the team will gain (e.g. teamwork, impact, skills) - Team size
Minimum and maximum numbers - Time commitment
Half day or full day - Dates and location
So organisations can filter easily - Charge or donation
Whether you charge, request a donation, or offer it free - Supervision
Who will support volunteers on the day - Equipment and materials
Who provides what - Health and safety
Accessibility and risk assessments - Image (3:1 ratio)
To make your opportunity stand out
Designing an Attractive Team Day
Choose the right activities:
- Gardening or outdoor projects
- Painting or improving spaces
- Sorting donations or packing supplies
- Supporting events
- Environmental activities
- Skills-based volunteering
- Charity shop support
Keep activities:
- Simple and easy to start
- Broken into smaller tasks
- Impactful within one day
- Accessible without specialist skills
Writing a Strong Opportunity
Use clear, engaging titles
- Instead of: “Volunteering Day” try: “Help Refresh Our Community Centre”
Focus on impact
- Explain how the activity helps your community
- Show what volunteers will achieve together
Responding to Requests
When a business is interested, they’ll send a Team Day Request through GoVo.
- You’ll receive a notification
- Respond directly in the platform
- Aim to reply within 5 working days
